Xbox 360 red rings of death (rrod) 3 of them, after surge?

i went to plug in a lamp just above the xbox plug and i saw a shock and heard a crackle for a slight moment, then the xbox 360 went off, when i went to turn it back on the 3 rrod appeared, ive tried disconnecting everything and then plugging back in that didnt work, i took out the hard drive and that didnt do anything either. is there anything else i can do, my warranty is up... i cant believe microsoft would send out a console that would die so easily, my atari still works after 30+ years..
