Death Note ~ L's Investigation on Kira?

What i wounder...is why didn't Light just run? After L found out that Kira was in Japan...WHy didn't Light get out of there?? OR when he was suspected..faked his death and get plasic surgury!! and then get out of Japan? ...Guess he was to proud, didn't want to admit epic failure :P
