Should owning a bull dog be illegal?

Not long ago, three pit all dogs in Bakersfield che way through a wooden fence surrounding their yard; the pit bulls then entered a neighbor's yard, where they mauled and killed a pet dog while its thirteen year old owner watched helplessly from a kitchen window. Because pit bull are often involved in vicious attack like this one, some people believe it should be ellegal to own the breed.
